Julia Gaunt

Singing Tutor and Vocal Coach
Julia Gaunt has been involved with music from a very early age. She has performed as a singer, musical director and accompanist throughout the country. She has over 20 years of extensive experience in teaching both privately and in schools. Other posts included; Head of Department, Lecturer on the lifelong Learning Programme at Leicester University, a member of the steering committee for a Performance Arts Degree Course at Sheffield Hallam University. During this time she has also been guest teacher at a number of the major performing arts colleges. She is a member of the management team at the Academy For Theatre Arts near Cheshire and is a singing teacher at Leicester College of Performing Arts.

Over the years Julia has also worked on a number of productions in major theatres including showcases in the West End of London. Her career has included working and workshops with; Mary Hammond - Head of Musical Theatre at the Royal Academy, London, Mary King (Channel Four - Operatunity and Musicality), Deidre Trundle - advisor on working with young voices, Gillyanne Kayes - Singing and The Actor, Lynne Wayman - Teachers Teaching Teachers (teaching staff how to use their voice correctly and efficiently), Julian McGlashan (Head of Laryngology at the Queens Medicals Centre, Nottingham) and Jayne Commins - all on vocal health and rehabilitation.

Julia still continues to run her very successful private practise - teaching singing, musical theatre and piano. Many of her students continue onto a professional career appearing in West End productions, European and world tours as well as large musical theatre productions on major world cruise ships.

When time allows she continues to work as a freelance consultant to schools and corporate companies; team building using Musical Theatre as well as Voice production (advising and coaching staff on how to use the voice safely and efficiently - vital to everyone in business, call centres, teaching and anyone else who uses the voice regularly). She is a member of the British Voice Association.
